Campaign? From what I know, she did not publicly endorse McCain/Palin the entire campaign (unlike Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, and Laura Bush). I'm just thinking that, as she is a leading moderate Republican, she might been able to help the McCain/Palin campaign to victory.

She could have gotten them all drunk last nite to dull the pain of losing.

you need new meds, bringing old farts into a campaign is a kiss of death...

Nobody could have helped. McCain tried to be who he wasn't. Just to get votes.

Nada.. I continue to be smitten by the pathos of those 56 M that 'voted' for another 4 years of the horror, inc... eek..

i don't think there's anybody, anywhere that could have been elected over Obama - he's the most inspiring man in the world right now & hopefully for years to come

I think any person of such notoriety would have help McCain's campaign... From the news coverage on my side of the atlantic (I'm in Ireland), but mainly news coverage from mainland Europe, it seemed biased and emphasised the Obama campaign more, giving an impression that McCain was kind of "out on his own" and Obama seemed surrounded with all the right people at the right time. On that basis it would seem the support of the "Betty Fords" of the republican side (moderate or not), would have helped his campaign, making things more balanced from our point of view and indeed might have encouraged McCain and given him the ability to deliver his speeches with more energy and power, Maxwell.
