...because SHE chooses to put? them in the spotlight, time and time again?


Let me begin by saying that I despise Letterman and thought his jokes both tasteless and inappropriate no matter which daughter they were about.

Further, let me say that I have defended Bristol Palin on numerous occasions and even fallen out with friends over things they said about her during the election campaign last year.

No girl in a bad situation needs to be called nasty names...especially by adults who claim the moral high ground

However...

Palin is their mother. Palin therefore has the greatest weight of responsibility on her shoulders for protecting those kids.

Yet she accepted the GOP Nomination for VP last year when she KNEW her daughter was pregnant. Knowing what politics and the media are like, why did she not refuse? It was obvious Bristol would be targeted. Abhorrent, morally unacceptable...but obvious, nonetheless.

What Bristol went through was disgusting and her mother was the only one with the power to protect her. Palin alone could have prevented that kid going through hell simply by not allowing her own ambitions to lead her to throw that poor kid under a media bus.

Palin is young enough for that not to have been her last chance at high office.

I would not have placed MY pregnant 17 year old in the firing line for such vicious ridicule, insults and innuendo.

And now she is keeping the Willow/Bristol/baseball thing alive by constantly rehashing Letterman's admittedly off color and inappropriate jokes

One strong statement condemning the jokes followed by a dignified silence on the matter would surely have brought less grief and embarrassment to BOTH her daughters.

Yes. She is definitely making things worse for her family. I wouldn't have even known about the comment from Letterman had Palin let it go. I bet this is the case for millions of others.

I don't think she should be ineligible for office because her daughter got pregnant. I appreciate that you see the disgusting nature of the attacks on her family. But do you see that the same sort of attacks are used against any republican?

It is a tactic of the left to carry on ad nauseum about any human failing of their opponents. What, like only the perfect may oppose them? That's a lot of hypocrisy coming out of people who claim tolerance. Any tactic is OK in their.frantic grasping for control of government money and power.

The fact that she does not shut up and go away, is called courage. Those who try to tyrannize others into compliance are morally the same as terrorists.
 
Honestly it seems that Palin can not decide what is more important to her . Her political career or her children and their quality of life ..
Either that or Palin is incredibly naive and not too bright .

No, I think she thought that real American people had more sense and where more mature than they are ! There is no reason her daughter should have been the brunt of all the hate of the liberals ! Other than they where just nasty and obsessed with making Obama king ! Our children make mistakes most of us continue to love and support them and hope they learn form them, we don't shut them out and act like they don't exist ! As for Letterman he just needs a good ass kicking for his mouth !
 
Just answer one question and one question only! How would the media reacted had the brunt of the joke been one of the 0bama children assaulted much in the same manner by a Conservative comedian instead of 'liberal' Letterman?
 
Sarah Palin only put out the news about Bristol when the media kept printing stories that her son was actually Bristols child. Imagine the fallout had she never told. She would have been accused of trying to keep it a secret. How exactly did she put herself and Willow in the spotlight with this last issue? By going to a baseball game? David Letterman caused the whole thing when he made the truly tactless jokes. So I guess to answer your question No I dont agree.
 
Palin is too narrow minded and power hungry to know or care how all this may effect her family.And hubby is too thrilled to get free silk boxers too care much either.
 
As for how the whole situation came about in the first place, Palin placed some of the blame on the what she sees as two double standards in the media: First, that President Barack Obama, referred to by Palin as "the candidate who must be obeyed," said family was off-limits, but the same courtesy was not extended to the "other side of the ticket."
Second, that Letterman was allowed to make such jokes in the first place, what she called the public's "acceptance of a celebrity being able to get away with a disparaging comment."
