IMO, that poor girl suffered enough for him to get off scott free.
 
Yes, he should. He plead guilty then jumped bail. That can never be permitted, not matter WHAT the circumstances of the original offense.

What baffles me is that the original victim has been working WITH the defense to get him off.
 
No doubt, if he is tried by jury, and that whole process. But, he definitely shouldn't be allowed to run free after jumping bail for what, 30 years or something?

More than some who are in jail, and less than some who aren't.

I don't know the details, but it sounds more sordid than criminal-if the person involved said she had been damaged by the experience, then yes.
If not, it's a bit more cloudy, fifty years or whatever after the event.

It does make me laugh though, that we are ruled by mass murderers, without giving it much thought.
