climate change? For starters do you predict that with Obama as president the US will change enough to play it's necessary part in combating climate change?
If so, do you have any predictions as to whether enough other counties are likely to follow suit or change of their own accord, to reduce global emissions to a level that won't trigger runaway climate change?
Obviously there is a great deal of unknown here, but I'm interested in hearing some informed, educated guesswork.
And finally, this is -not- a question for deniers/skeptics to answer. I'm not interested in hearing that it's a global plot, that it's cold outside your house so the world -can't- be warming, or that the vast majority of scientists who agree with the hypothesis are wrong. It's incredibly well researched, nearly everyone who's oppinion counts accepts that it's real, and you can save your paranoid delusions for a conspiracy website.
BB, yes I thought I might get a reaction like that. I wrote what I did because I wasn't asking whether you think it's real or not, but I was sure deniers would answer anyway, and I was right.
Also, please note that I have not been at all closed minded on the issue. I have done a great deal of independant reading. Enough, in fact, to see how flimsy and irrelevant the arguments of almost all deniers actually are.
Pay4Play, again that doesn't answer my question, does it? But to answer you, of course it's still going to need research. It's a huge problem that could potentially result in near-extinction of our species. We need to know as much as possible about how fast it's happening, everything that contributes to it and how much, feedback systems (look it up) that increase the rate of warming, likely consequences of the warming, and the list just goes on!
