Due to the political climate of the United States, especially concerning the same-sex marriage debate, do you think that Obama does in fact support same-sex marriage, but is only saying that he doesn't out of needed support from those who may be democratic, but who do not support gay marriage? In other words, is Obama only saying that he is against same-sex marriages because then many of his voter base would not vote for him solely because of his opinion?
Personally, I think he is. I think that he supports gay marriage, but is only publically saying he does not because it still is somewhat of a political problem in that high of office (where you need independents to support you as well as Democrats).
NOTE: I support same-sex marriage.
