Do you think that bad image of gay people comes from this?

Not too long ago gay men had to go through things like secretly (and anonymously) meeting up in the parks in the dark to have sex... Or stuff like this. Cause they didn't have other options, they couldn't just have an open relationship or anything like that. That kind of behavior doesn't look very good, does it? Do you think that was what caused bad image of gay men in some of the older people's heads?
I'm not trying to offend anyone, it's just a question and nothing else.
 
i live in the UK and i think most of the homophobia and 'bad image of gay people' exists out of the remnants of being a christian society. in america in particular, religious organisations have fervently sought to present gay people stereotypically and negatively to reinforce their own religious branding.
