I am a strong supporter of the armed forces. But, from a lot of what I read on this site, a lot of 16 year olds are saying "In two years, after H.S. graduation, I want to join the army/navy/marines/air force/coast guard."
But, I think - as honorable as it is - a lot (though not all) of them "get it." People lose their lives, they lose their limbs, they lose their eyeballs, they become quadrapeligics, etc. Imagine being 18 (with your WHOLE life ahead of you) and you lose your legs and one arm, and have to live like that for 70 or 80 years.
Dr. Phil says that the part of the brain that predicts consequences of one's actions does not fully develop until age 24. So, maybe one should be 24 to join?
