do you think teenagers today are brainwashed, or just stupid?

i'm a teenager, only 15, i look around and see:
people listening to fake, mainstream garbage music
being all pissed off because they don't get the most expensive, big poser clothing brands, or when they don't get a cell phone they don't need
using stupid, idiotic generic expressions they get from movies or tv shows
and even sadder, feeling so insecure that they believe they need all this to "fit in" or "be cool", and if you aren;t like this it's like "wtf are you doing?"
teenagers like me, who actually see what's going on, and actually have a brain in their heads are becoming a rarity. It's pathetic what the people around me have become
opinions please, oh, and don't bash me because you know i'm right

Do you listen to The Sex Pistols? I bet you do, mr anarchist.

I'm 17 and between 14 and 16 I was an emo. I think it's just another version of conformity, so it was kind of pointless anyway. Now I've gone a bit more mainstream. But why the hell should that bother me? I like it because I like it. 'Course, I still think kids who complain about not getting the latest stuff are complete sadsacks.

"and even sadder, feeling so insecure that they believe they need all this to "fit in" or "be cool", and if you aren't like this it's like "wtf are you doing?""

It's called peer pressure. It's in human nature to conform, for ones own safety. Don't knock it.

"teenagers like me, who actually see what's going on, and actually have a brain in their heads are becoming a rarity. It's pathetic what the people around me have become
opinions please, oh, and don't bash me because you know i'm right"

Wow. God complex much?

Also, fyi, it's also pretty annoying to people those teenagers who act all independent and opinionated, and act like they're so deep and world-aware, and hate 'what has become of modern society'. But that probably doesn't really show up on your radar, does it? Because you 'know you're right'.

Teenagers have always been like this: it's part of being an adolescent, and people have been complaining about it for centuries. Ancient Roman teenagers may not have wanted electronic gadgets, but there were things they wanted that their elders thought were ridiculous; there were fads in music and literature and clothes, and they were all insecure and trying to fit in.

That's life. You're not going to change it.

It's just simple immaturity, and it's not specific to your generation.

People do say that generation seems to think it's just entitled to everything, which is true. Many teenagers do act and feel that way. I think it's more of a 'teenager' thing than a 'teenagers today' thing, though.
