With the rise of obesity in the US and all the health problems that stem from it, do you think our education system should do more to promote good health? I know that schools have like ONE required gym class but who are we kidding, they are a joke. When I lived in Russia we ALWAYS had a gym class with very high demands and physical exams. If you failed it, you failed the grade. Do you think the US should have a similar system of gym classes in the schools? Give students attainable goals but that you would still have to work for... and if a student fails the class, it has the same exact impact on his education as failing math of English would? (you can even be held back) do you think gym should be a year-around class? (not just 1 class in 4 years) maybe colleges should have mandatory, but free gym classes that students would have to go? I just wanna know what everyone thinks about getting serious with gym classes in our schools to fight obesity because clearly the parents and the kids themselves are not doing a very good job at it...
