Do you think people are defensive over the rock vs.rap debate?

Before I go on, I will say that they are some rap songs that are good and some that are not. This goes towards rock as well. but some people assume that most rap is someone who doesn't know how to play instrumental and spits out random lines. Some people think that some people who listen to rock blast it on their i-pods and radios. Sure I think that in some rap videos they dance like they're having a seizure and that its music today is mainstream and repetitive, but I'm not very fond of rock either, because some people claim it's the best genre. I'm just giving my opinion, so what do you think ?
 
This is what I really think.

Both rap and this mainstream rock has gone to shit!

Rap: You got your sad ass lil Wayne's and your *stanky Leg* what ever the *f*ck that is and your soulja boys and your T-Pains. None of those people got talent at all. So rap has gone to shit.


Rock: Rock has not gone to shit AS bad as rap but, it still gone to shit compared to the older stuff like Metallica, Guns N Roses, Santana, Iron Maiden, Jimi Hendrix, The stuff these days can not comPARE to the stuff back in those days. So in my opinion Both Rap and Rock has gone to shit.
 
I don't understand why people give a f*ck in the first place. Like what you like, and dislike what you dislike. Who cares what genre it is?
