Do you think our culture deliberately seperates the sexes?

The fact that when boys are born they are given blue and trains and boys toys and when girls are born they are given dollies and pink and fairy outfits. Is it natural for the sexes to be different or do you think there is some kind of social manipulation to keep us different? expectations etc ? I ask this because I have been brought up with men, always had male friends, work with all men at work. and still manage to hold onto my femininity even though I never spend time with females I still feel the pressure to wear makeup and dress well. any thoughts?

Yeah, I think the differences between the sexes are reinforced on a daily basis by the media and society in general. I think there is a lot more nurture than nature going on in a lot of stuff.
The expectations of how women and men should act is vastly different and media stereotypes are as narrowly defined as they are insulting to both sexes.
I'd like to see a bit more equality and less sexism, especially in advertising.
