Do you think LAWYERS should have been allowed to advertise?

Since most people have the memory and attention span of a Knat. A few years ago Lawyers weren't allowed to advertise. Prescribed medicines also. Hasn't that harmed the public.
 
Interesting, in what jurisdiction were lawyers prohibited from advertising their services? I'd rather the transmission of information, even if used for commercial-ends, not be suppressed.
