Maybe. But the more important fact is that he was convicted by a jury.
Jeff Skilling devised strategies for falsely inflating the value of Enron's partnership interests for purposes of financial reporting, and also for avoiding taxes by means of carefully controlling tax reporting. He also helped orchestrate the California "energy crisis" (with the help of his friend, George W. Bush) that caused California electricity prices to skyrocket for no reason except to earn Enron a profit.
As far as I'm concerned, if his conviction stands, he is getting what he deserves.
