Do you think it's fair for a gym teacher to do this?

On Sunday (today is Friday), I sprained my ankle. On Tuesday, I had gym. My mom gave me a note saying that I couldn't do gym because I had hurt my ankle. I showed my teacher and she said something along the lines of, "Just because you have a note from your parents doesn't mean you can sit out. Go get dressed, you're still doing P.E.". I then had to go do gym and I had to run and everything. I understand that school policy is that you have to have a doctor's note to sit out of gym, but don't you think that good judgement is also used when deciding to let a kid sit out or not? It's not like I was walking around fine, I had an ankle brace on and I was limping, so shouldn't she have seen that I was actually hurt? When I got home that day, my ankle was swollen more than it was when I first hurt it. So do you think it's fair that she did that?

By the way, I'm a freshman in high school.
We went to the dr. yesterday and I got a note from him excusing me from gym for next week. My mom called the school and talked one of the Vice Principals, but I forget what he said.
