Do you think it is unnecessary and perhaps even unfair that scholarships...

...require recommendations? I mean scholarships that are based on financial hardships alone. There is this program for students who have "overcome personal challenges...". While, if they are "personal challenges", then why would there be another persons (two in most cases, since they usually require two reccomenders or letters from these recommenders), who could witness these students have overcome these challenges? Also, what if these students had to go through these challenges by themselves? Only rich people can afford to hire other people who are "not their relatives or teacher" to help them with their "personal challenges"!

Okay, I understand this is real cash, and these scholarship people are giving out money for free. But if they are going to require applicants to have two recommenders , doesn't it throw the advantage to those who actually are too affluent to need the money? And doesn't this prevent these scholarships from helping those who really need it? Why can't the scholarship people just base the applicant's needs by that FAFSA?

I can't find anyone to be my recommenders, and i have overcome many personal challenges! My family is also very poor and cannot afford to pay for my college tuition! Do you find this unfair?
