ive always been on a quest. like may fellow thinker to know...well pretty much everything (if thats even possible). if you are to understand the conundrums of life reflecting on the universe i think it is necessary you understand the machine that does it. I try to get many of my friends to read or understand plato or neitzche but they just wont have it. Not only do they not care, they just simply dont understand and dont really like to expand thier minds beyond what is right in front of them. They just simply accept the world for what it is and act accordingly defined by the standard of what theyve been told to do or what is to be expected.
IE my friend is one of those guys that just simply says "oh the war in in afghan. fuckin terrorists. kill em all." thats just how he see it. the evil is part of a mystical chess game, a destiny were evil and good fight for control of the world. it so much more complicated than that, its muslims fighting for an extremist sect of a religion, its america fighting for control of oil... basically what im saying is that he uses his brain as a realist, and i am an idealist. Shit he doesnt even think about his brain, he thinks were mystical floating souls created by god in a physical body.
it just leads me to think, man maybe people just cant think. They just cant expand their minds beyond what nature has given them. Thats my understanding of it. classic nature vs nurture. Do you think it is a little bit of both? I honestly think, the people with no vision of their own, no understanding
of a different stream of thought, and no edgy voice that tells them to explore every aspect of the world, simply just cant do it because their brains arent powerful enough. You have to think, on an evolutionary scale, high powered brains are still a premature thing. I know im not a brain scientist, although ive taken many psychological courses that led me to this conclusion.
when i look at the world, and history, i see the same pattern. to me its almost a 60/40 (of people in the world) ratio of people who dont think beyond the scope of whats right in front of them/people who use the extent of the knowledge given to them to create a better world forgetting the status quo of whats achievable (at varying levels of intellectuality). Sometimes to me it seems like a 70/30 ratio of different levels of brainpower.
this is just a personal hypothesis on viewing the world, any criticisms or complete flop of this to fit what reality really is, i would greatly appreciate. im not bathing in my ego here, i am just trying to interact my beliefs and thoughts with others to learn.
thanks
paige i see what yore saying but im talking about intellectual ideals and applying them to life. Haha im not mad, i enjoyed seeing you perception of life because no one person is always right when it comes to happiness.
when i was talking about the ratio i wasnt talking about the brain specifically, i was talking about the ratio of people in the world who have higher intelligence and who dont.
thanks commenters 3,4,5 i really learned a lot from what you said. extremely good points that i forgot to include in my vision that should really have a place.
special ephex: ya man i almost wish i was religious, it would be a lot easier. it is defiantly not easy to bear the burdens of the thoughts of the universe on a single mans head, i think al philosophers know that especially when we know theres so little we can do to change the world except be the change.
