...experience other cultures, ? that might help reduce religious fundamentalism in that generation?

I think a lot of these people might think a little differently if they saw how other cultures live and believe.
I travelled for almost a decade in total. It's amazing out there.......

No not at all, if you haven't noticed all cultures are on our doorsteps putting up Temples of False Gods in our Lands and we have let them, a nail is still a nail and needs to be knocked in with a hammer or rock in any language, likewise God is God and still demands obedience even in these last chance days tolerance must not be given to Evil Way's or there shall never be peace amongst us all.

It might if they would stop and really smell the roses but as when I was young and in the service, I traveled to many countries and observed many cultures. The problem was , in those days I wasn't thinking about learning the culture.
Now if they were to go into a remote area and live with the natives for a period of time as they live it might make a difference.

I am a traveller and so are my kids. Getting an education cures ignorance. That is not good for religion however.

Our missionaries are "called" to preach the gospel throughout the world, 65,000 strong at any one time. There they live and learn the language for 2 years and they come to love the people. This can and usually helps them in their employment later in life. (LDS)

It's a good idea, but I highly doubt many young people could afford to travel. I certainly can't.

The only thing that is going to curb religious fundamentalism is education. The more educated a generation is, the better their chances are learning tolerance, acceptance, and understanding.
