Do you think I have the makings of a successful poet?

I don't know if I have what it takes to be a poet, but I want to publish my first book of poetry...I have over 70 poems written. Here are two of my favorites.

Murder is a Masquerade

Masks,
everyone is wearing masks,
costumes are the theme.
Who is who,
and who is not,
we will never know,
or at least not tonight.
There is fun to be had,
and things to experience,
we must bask in the night.
Laughing,
and drinking,
this night of magic will never end.
Dancing,
and dancing again,
this night is a night for revenge and a lovers rage.
Happily,
couples twirl and spin and sway,
unaware of what will happen next.
All of this,
laughing dancing and drinking,
cannot be good at such an event.
Blood has spilt,
but at whose hand,
a life has been taken here tonight.
With everyone masked,
and no one revealing their true selves,
it's anyone's guess as to who has done it.
No one can leave,
and no one can enter,
it's time,
to catch a killer.
Murder,
is a masquerade.

Dagger

Drop the dagger Romeo,
Juliet.
To pierce thy skin,

with.

Save yourself,

go.

Tis a pitty to ruin,

yourself.

Suicide,

is a sin you know.

There is no way around it.
Do it if you must.
Take away your own life.
But don't ask me to stay?
to watch?
to help you use that dagger.
'Cause I won't,
because,
murder too,
is a sin.
Don't die for love,
you'll only dig yourself deeper.
It isn't worth it,
trust me I know.
Only fools die for love,

only fools fall in love.

For it does not exist.

So drop that dagger,

drop it now.

Because lust, ardor, and passion,
they do exist...
Don't ask me to stay?
to watch?
to help you use that dagger.
'Cause I might,
but then again,
murder is a sin you know...
