Do you think global warming is a scam?

Have the panic mongers been at it long enough? With no clear cut evidence to support their claims after all these years, and no man-made climate change happening, do you think we're being swindled?

Its not a scam, there was a scientific basis to the hypothesis, but as our knowledge of the climate has increase elements of it have been shown to be wrong or unlikely and new theories have emerged with stronger evidence to support them. The main issue is the global warming theory has been used for environmental, political and finincial gain, often relying of unjustified alarmist claims (see Al Gores movie for example). Even Realclimate.org recently said they would do more to out these unjustified scare stories as they do no one any favours, especially not science as a whole.

Science has always progressed through paradigm shifts, it didnt mean the previous understanding was fraudulent, but that it was based on the wrong information, at its conception it may have been based on the best available knowledge.

To quote some of the politicians / IPCC scientists:

“Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest” Stephen Schneider, lead IPCC author

“We've got to ride this global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong” Timothy Wirth, Head of the UN Foundation

“A global warming treaty must implemented even if there is no scientific evidence to back the greenhouse effect.” Richard Benedick, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Sate, U.S. State Policy Planner

“Unless we announce disasters, no one will listen”
John Houghton, 1994, IPCC Second Chairman & Lead Author

yeah i think so, its summer here and its cold, if its global warming then why is it so cold

With the Global Warming hoax, the CO2 is produced by cars (and I may add, breathing). If you recall your grammar school science, trees and plants use CO2 to produce oxygen. Notice how none of the solutions you read about involve planting more trees.

If the CO2 is thickening the atmosphere, wouldn’t that prevent the sun’s rays from warming the earth? Wouldn’t we be causing an Ice Age? And speaking of Ice Ages, hasn’t the earth always been in flux between Ice Ages and Tropical Ages since long before man entered the picture?

What is the earth’s average temperature? You would be hard-pressed to find that published anywhere, but you do hear that it is going up. The temperature is 58 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s gone up a little over one degree in the past 100 years. That means that 100 years ago the temperature was around 56 degrees Fahrenheit. Doesn’t that mean that the glaciers were melting then? How do we know that this 1 degree change is unusual? What should the average temperature have been? Is it supposed to stay the same over the centuries? Was it supposed to go down? Or was it supposed to go up by a smaller amount?
