Do you think educating inner-city children is wasteful?

Lets be real here, for most poor children educating them is a waste of time as they are only going to get jobs in factories or bludging on the dole or worse. Most of them drop-out by the age of 16 and they dont care about education either, so why should we be wasting perfectly good tax dollars on them when we can do it on more deserving students?

Are you kidding me? Most wealthy kids spend their time partying and grow up and contribute nothing to society.. i.e. Paris Hilton, Nick Hogan etc.

Poor Children aspire to be something and work harder so they are NOT poor anymore.. You have no idea what your talking about and you are an elitist.

I think every child is worth it when it comes to education.Everyone deserves a chance. How do you know that one of these children may be the one that discovers a cure for a new disease that you get.How much money has been wasted on the rich that waste the teachers time and parents money by paryting for 4 years.(I don't mean this disrespectful)

No, it is not wasteful. Education is the best tool to eliminating poverty and crime in inner-cities. For example, in New York City, there has been a dramatic decrease in crime that many attribute to the improvements in education that have been made in that city. Michael Bloomberg has reformed education as Mayor of New York City and because of his efforts, the public education system there is becoming increasingly more high-quality.

Proper education should be avaliable to all. With emphasis on, proper. Development of people into a productive citizens is never a waste. We need people who work in factories, just as much as we need scientists, etc. Just remember, "educated" (and rich) people also turn to crime. Look at Madoff, Obama, Pelosi, as just a few examples.

and beliefs like this is precisely why companies are moving overseas where they can find educated laborers.

How do you expect kids to stay in school, and take their educations seriously with parents always referring to their teachers as socialists that don't know what they are talking about, just because they aren't teaching creationism?

less education and less information = more terrorism and more crime

Your thinking is not new - they said the same thing about all blacks during slavery and after.
Black had to sneak to learn.

We will sneak no more, bytch!

No I disagree. Not all poor children fit your description. IMO public schooling should be viewed like welfare. It is for the very poor who cannot afford to educate their children. When you have kids, you should be responsible for their needs, and that includes education. So, I think any household that makes enough to afford a private education should be made to do so. As I said, your children are your responsibility and foisting the cost onto your neighbors is ridiculous. We would all benefit tremendously from this as property tax would be cut in half, that means lower rents as well.

As it stands we are all struggling under the burden of educating children whose parents can and should pay for it themselves.
