Just Joined the Marine Corps and just wanted to know if you guys think its a good financial choice? please enlight me with your answers.

Well, where else besides the military can a person get on-the-job training, get PAID while training, get most if not all the items they need for their job issued to them (uniform, equipment, etc), receive a steady pay check, have full medical n dental benis, education benis, opportunities for travel, and retirement after 20 years?

Now, the military is a demanding lifestyle. If your heart isn't into it, then the benefits aren't going to be worth it.

If your looking to make money then NO, but it can give you a good start to building your credit. You will live in the barracks and eat for free so that leaves you about $1100 or $1200 a month to blow on stupid crap. your guaranteed to get a paycheck so most banks will finance you but do your self a favor and get some one that's an NCO or higher to look at you paperwork before you sign for anything. I've seen dozens of nuggets like you get raped with 20% interest on car loans.

Definitely! It was a great choice! Whichever branch of the military that you join is always a good career decision, even if you dont plan on retiring with the branch-you can always get the education you need, without being swapped with student loans. They help you pay for alot of stuff that no other company in the civilian world would help you do. Its an amzing choice with awesome oppurtunities! Congratulations!

the reason that you join the military is not financial.

You join the Military to protect our nation from enemies such as Muslim Terrorists.

In my opinion the pay in the military should be much higher than it currently is.

Currently, the military is a financial sacrifice for the people who join.

In my opinion the military should not be a financial sacrifice for the people who join the military.

The financial part had nothing to do with me enlisting but everything I received while there was a huge bonus.

I guess it all depends on your social status now. If you are poor and have nothing, then yes, the military is a great financial move.

If you are doing ok and want to serve for financial reasons then you will quickly see why this is a very stupid thing to do.
