the ATF allowed american guns into mexico . i believe this was to put the blame on americans and on people who sell guns legally. there plan was to allow guns into Mexico then blame all the violence on americans and crack down on gun store owners . but the ATF did not count on some honest ATF agents breaking the story . this really skewed there plans up . making it imposable to blame americans . but what if the ATF agents did not break the story . i think if these men who came out with the truth remained quoit it would just be a matter of time before our gov. came after our guns .
scott b / if that was not the plan then why would the ATF allow guns to get in the hands of the drug cartels . please just give me one reason .and for all you ppl that say the DEM'S do not want to take ppl rights to own guns away then why did a men in Chicago have to take the the ppl that governs that city to the SUPREN COURT to fight for his right to own a gun .

There is no bullet to dodge, you're just being paranoid for no reason. I've owned a Beretta 9mm since 1985 and I've never feared that someone will try to take it away from me.
 
This goes up higher than the ATF, these orders may go to the DOJ and even the White House... stay tuned.

Just another case of Democrats trying to "nudge" us, to do what THEY want.

Playing with American citizen's lives, in the process.
 
Wow. Gun nuts are about the most fact-resistant people I know.

NOBODY is going to mess with the basic right of Americans to own guns. What we're arguing about is regulation. Limits. For instance, you can't own a machine gun. Do you see this as a violation of your 2nd Amendment rights?

Democrats (and other reasonable people) think the People of the United States have the right to keep guns out of the hands of violent people, mentally retarded people, sociopaths who don't know right from wrong, and felons. Is that a violation of your 2nd Amendment rights?

Have you EVER heard ANYONE propose simply banning all guns? Why do gun people insist this is what Democrats want?
 
Originally they were trying to pass this off as a reason to stiffen US gun laws and the UN was trying to get a Gun treaty claiming US gun laws were too lax and illegal gun trafficking until the truth was exposed. The gun shops reported this to the ATF and the ATF responded by saying sell the guns to the Mexicans. I believe Clinton is still working on the UN gun treaty.
 
The first thing that despotic emperors and kings do is disarm the citizens. The Communists and the Nazis did it and if any other country does it, unless its so small the citizens all actually like each other, its a no win situation for the population in general.
 
In the practical sense it would difficult to impossible to round up all the guns Americans own. The far majority won't simply give them up because they are told to do so....and the alternative is to go house to house and be at the receiving and giving end of alot of death.

Some lefties might have such dreams.....but it is just not practical. They could not accomplish it even if they could overcome the Constitutional protections. Such ideas are ivory tower silliness.
