Do you think a 5000 mile oil change will hurt a Ford Taurus?

Nope. Dad has an 04 Escape & when he last changed to oil it had 5K miles on it. The oil still had a bit of gold color to it. His Escape has 55K miles on it. I think if you do what the owners manual says, you'll not have any problems for years n' years n' years, etc....
 
That's what it says in the owners manual (change every 5000 miles). It gives me this motocraft brand name oil but I use Castrol GTX in all my changes. My car has 3800 miles on my last oil change and I will change it before 4200 miles. Lastly, I drive about 75% highway and the rest in the city. So, since the owners manual says so, would every 5000 miles harm the engine?
