do you text and/or talk on phone while driving?

I am driving down the highway today and some person was driving with one hand and holding their phone talking with another and i was going in speeds in excess of 40mph and this guy comes from the lane on my right and without even signaling turns into my lane and turns so close near my car that i don't know how we didn't get hit. I mean if he would of hit my car it'd be his fault, he's distracted, what he didn't see my car to the left of his? Anyways, can't people talk to their friends later? why talk or text and drive? It's like you're a risk taker, playing chicken with your life and putting other's in danger. Are talking to your friends now more important than you own life? I don't get it, why talk/text and drive at same time?
