Do you support a renewal of the assault weapons ban?

The assault weapons ban expired in March 2004, allowign citizens the legal ownership of semi-automatic weapons (including rifles, shotguns, etc.) There has been discussion recently of renewing the ban now that the Democrats have retaken both houses of Congress and the White House.

We have also seen a surge of gun purchases since Barack Obama was elected.

On a more extreme note, the city I live in, San Francisco, bans ALL firearms. The NRA is suing to overturn this ban. Do you support either an assault weapons ban or a total firearm ban?
 
No. I support regulation but not restriction of firearms. Assault rifles should be legal but more heavily regulated (i.e. you would need a clean background check to buy one).
 
We have the right to bear arms.
I do believe in regulations, but I still think we should have firearms.
 
No its our right to own any gun we want. It wont stop a criminal who wanted a automatic gun to get one. U can modify guns pretty easy. U can find guides how to do it on the internet. If a bad person wants a gun he will get it no problem.
 
I support our right to own guns but no one needs a semi automatic weapon to defend themselves or to hunt with. I support the ban and regulations on all guns.
 
I don't care. I have my guns and I know where to buy more, ban or no ban.

No one needs machine guns that shoot mutliple bullets at a time in order to protect themselves.


The 2nd amendment doesn't apply to everything.........
you know how the 1st amendment states "freedom of speech?"
Can you go to a crowded place & yell "FIRE!" or scream "Terrorist!" ? No.
The amendments are interpreted so that we have exceptions in the light of physical safety.
