Do you still go out to eat despite having hard financial times?

When we go out to dinner on Friday nights, we still have to wait like an hour to be seated. I thought the economy was really bad and expected the restaurants to be dead. Is the economy in better shape than all the media reports would suggest??

My son is a cook at a restaurant. And while certain nights of the week are a little slower, other nights are extremely busy. It seems to be the "higher end" restaurants that are being hit harder. If you offer good food at a reasonable price, then I think the business will be okay.

Yes we go out to eat. Not having any financial problems since we never bought what we could not afford. The media as usual has over-hyped the problems of a few. Only 10% of homeowners are behind in mortgage payments and they most likely should not have bought the house in the first place

I agree that the media has hyped the economic situation far beyond the reality. After all, they have to sell sensationalism.

I believe that your experience and mine, plus others whom I know, are indications that the economy is slowly - very slowly - recovering.

However the pain and consequences will remain for a while longer. I think it is good for the country that this happens, most folks were living well beyond their means then, maybe they will be more financially responsible from now on.
