Do you see any parallels between the "Obama birth certificate" debate and the...

...2000 recount? Now Republicans are claiming that Obama isn't a legitimate US citizen.

Eight years ago, Democrats claimed that Bush stole the election.

So, is this another manifestation of that universal human weakness common to both sides -- Sour Grapes?
OK, he's a Democrat who favored Hillary -- he's still a looser with Sour Grapes. And, the Republicans have jumped on it. Listen to talk radio some time. Doesn't matter who started the rumor, it's got a life of it's own now.

Let me ask you a question: on what exactly do you base your assumption that Obama is a legitimate U.S. citizen?

Did you just take it for granted, assuming someone would have figured it out by now? Did you accept that phony looking "Certificate of Live Birth" his website posted? It has been thoroughly examined and summarily declared an obvious phony.

Now, you could dismiss what I just said. But instead, I urge you to look at the first website below. There are at least half a dozen obvious signs of tampering on that one document alone. (and very suspiciously, Obama's website substituted a much lower resolution version of the document, probably after realizing that someone could even analyze it by capturing the image on their own computer... which luckily this expert in document fraud and verification below did in time).

Did you really think this controversy is just some lighthearted whim by some whack jobs? Far from it, even Collin Powell has joined other black politicians like Alan Keyes in demanding that Obama produce a real birth certificate.

There is something very weird going on. It is well known that, during the primaries, Hillary sent her hencemen abroad to dig up dirt on Obama. Now he has chosen her for Secretary of State? Hmmm...

Additionally, it has been reported that Obama has spent $800,000 to avoid presenting a simple birth certificate. Why? He also used the pretext of his grandmother's death to whisk on down to the Hawaii records office and have his records sealed. Again, if there is nothing to hide, why?

What do we really know about Barack Hussein Obama? The only thing we do know is that with every new piece of information discloed, the less he looks like Presidential material. It is widely concluded in literary circles that Obama did NOT write "Dreams Of My Father". The style is very similar to that of a certain person Obama now claims he only knows "in passing" (despite the fact that Obama began his political career in his house): 1960s terrorist Bill Ayers.

Even if Obama produced some document that could not be proven a forgery, there are a couple huge obstacles towards proving his legitimate citizenship. His mother remarried an Indonesian man and they moved to Indonesia. She took Indonesian citizenship, meaning that "Barry Soetero" lost all claim to U.S. citizenship at that point. That is the law, according to the U.S. Naturalization Act of 1940.

I believe Obama was born in Kenya, and his mother raced back to Hawaii to get his birth recorded there (realizing her marriage to this Kenyan man would not work out). She then remarried, and took Indonesian citizenship. Hence, Barack, or Barry, or whatever he wants to call himself is not a legitimate U.S. citizen.

No since the Gore Recount was initiated by the Democrats and violated the state of Florida's laws as well as the Federal Constitution (the Supreme Court of the United States of America's 7-2 decision said so).

The Birth Certificate has been initiated by individuals (some of whom are Democrats) and violates no law... in fact it seeks to get clarification on the Federal Constitution.

Well Democrats had a legitimate case back in 2000. Bush along with his brother Jeb and all other Republicans helped Bush steal an election. The supreme court which was headed by mainly conservative Republicans gave it to Bush.

Expalin to us all, how out of all 50 states there was only a problem in Florida where Bush's brother happened to be Governor. Bush stole the election. It's a fact.

The 2000 election fiasco actually had some legs. There was a large discrepancy between the popular vote and electoral vote.

Do some research please.

Berg v. Obama was started by a democrat who favored Hillary Clinton.

no

bush did steal the election

but thank god he did...could u imagine what this country would be like if al gore was president...

Well, actually, there are no parallels to this other than as usual, the libs are looking to cover up their mess by creating a supposed Republican mess. It's really fun to watch!!

Its really not the same thing. One is a weak attempt to destroy a candidate (the birth certificate) and the other is about democracy. If you remember correctly, Gore really did win that election. It was revealed 3 months later that He won by a narrow margin. I really do not take many sides in politics... but on this issue we must agree they are not the same thing

The recount issue was much more complicated than the claim that Obama is not a citizen, which is demonstrably untrue.

Republicans aren't. The 2 guys who brought law suits against him are though. And what's wrong with protecting the Constitution?

Citizenship would be a lot less expensive to prove than a vote is to recount. Why won't Obama simply show his birth certificate and be done with it? The most disturbing thing is that our government isn't requiring candidates to prove that they have a legal right to hold the office that they're running for.

No the recount of 2000 was a legitimate beef, President Obama's birth is not in question to any rational person.

Bush didn't win, that's a fact.

The parallel is the repugs are lowlifes that support a president who didn't win. They don't care if it's a true win, as long as they win. They are trying to dig up something on Obama...ANYTHING. Again....lowlifes.

No.
Reason: The 2000 election situation was a REAL issue. The Obama birth certificate situation is a NON-EXISTENT issue.

No, not really. There was legitimate concern over the procedure in some parts of Florida -- note that the Supreme Court took the case and ruled on it.

There is no evidence whatsoever to bolster any questions over Obama's birthplace or "natural born" status -- note that every case so far heard has lost, and all petitions to the Supreme Court have been denied without comment.

But it doesn't sound like what you're positing is that there are parallels, but that there is a causal link. I don't see it. The BC issue was born in the mind of a 9/11 conspiracy theorist, and promulgated by a cast and crew of whack jobs such as Andy Martin and Jerome Corsi.

EDIT: To the below: Obama *has* shown his birth certificate, thus yes, it *should* be over with.
