Do you run your home economy the way you expect to see the Federal Government run?

I run my home economy like I wish the Fed would run theirs.

For example, I make a major purchase only after consulting with my congress (wives). The purchase is only made if it is value-added. For example, a 20' wakeboarding boat would be nice to have, but there's no way to justify it. A smaller, cheaper boat that could be used for fishing would add value, though.

Another thing: we try to maintain or lower our "debt ceiling"- that max amount we can currently borrow. Did you know that if your debt ceiling is too high, it can keep you from getting financing or getting the best rate? I closed a $11,000 Citi credit card recently, so we could look at a refi or home equity loan to get the outbuilding done for our off-grid electrical system. The FedGov just raises their debt ceiling- basically, once they've got all their credit carRAB maxed out, they just apply for more, and start charging those up as well.

The Federal Government is on a path to self-destruction.
Is your home?

WTF?

Natural law has nothing to do with the "rights" you are talking about and the government absolutely can infringe on them.

You are correct though that what society agrees are to be considered rights are mutually granted by each individual.

Certainly government budgets are made up of much much larger nurabers than family budgets, and factors influencing the respective budgets are different, but the general premise is still the same, don't spend more than what you are bringing in.

Yes they do. You know, those inaliable rights endowed by the Creator (whomever you believe the Creator was).

They're not granted by each individual, they are granted to each individual.

Of course I do.

I tell my credit card company to raise my spending limit all the time, and they comply.

If I don't have enough money, I go down the street and borrow more.

I don't worry about wasting money, because I can always borrow more or fire up the laser printer and print more.

I can just do accounting tricks to keep the bills from ever coming due.

When the shit hits the fan, I can just play "kick the can" and blame myself, then replace myself every 4-8 years and start over again with no blame what so ever.

No one will ever be able to come take my assets away, because I have guns and can hold off anyone who I owe money.

/sarcasm

And no, the government cannot infringe on them, legally speaking. The government cannot infringe on my right to freely exercise my religion, so long as that expression does not violate any law or someone else's rights.

i usually just yell and scream at my rich daddy until he gives me more money to cover my outrageous spending habits and then i spend even more and more while doing absolutely nothing positive and in the end im stuck wondering why in the world he doesnt want to give me any more money
