Do you remember this Children's Book?

I am trying to find a book I used to read at school (late 80's early 90's) The only thing I vaguely remember is it was a series of short books and the main characters were performers traveling in a wooden Caravan.
I know thats not much to go on but hope some one can help was just thinking about this the other night.
