do you need the father of a child to be there for a dna test?

i just found out that my dad isnt well my dad and want to know who my really dad is. do i need a sample of his of will i be able t find him with just a simple blood test.
 
No. A DNA test for Paternity does not help to find someone. Once you find someone, you can have them take a DNA Paternity test to verify it or not.
 
The only way would be if he is in the national DNA registry, which is mostly used for criminals, but is used for other things as well, but not as much.
