I live on a very quiet road in the countryside with about four cars a day coming past and no pedestrians so I have let my boys run around naked outside since they could walk and inside since they were potty trained. We have only one house near us (the next house after our neighbours is three quaters of a mile away) which is directly next to us and a young family with a daughter the same age as my eldest son and they are great friends of ours. During summer we have a lot of BBQs together and the children happily play naked which ever house we're at. It is not at all sexual but just saves the washing of swimsuits.
I think I will stop them playing naked together (not stop them playing together full stop) when my eldest turns four because that is the age when children start noticing "differences" in their bodies. When they stop being allowed to play naked with girls I'll let them play naked for one or two years more together before insisting that clothes are worn everywhere.
For those of you who might leave a comment involving phedophiles despite the location of our houses I'll tell you we have two meter fencing on three sides of our garden with the exception of the common one with the neighbours which is about waist height. We have had hundreds of evenings together and one the only time when a car stopped to check a map we just passed the kids over the fence and no one (exept our two families) saw anything.
