Do you honestly not get it ?

I'd gladly take a small cut in profit if it means I gain market share. And if the gain is large enough, I can lower other expenses. Advertising for one.

While I don't mind a large military overall, employing people for the sake of employing people, and finding jobs for them pushing stupid papers and making the system more inefficient is rather dumb.

If the country is going to employ people for the sake of employing people, put them to work improving the country's infrastructure, or building some interesting national monument shit. At least that accomplishes something.

I'm sure there were plenty of solid companies that fell. Even the solid ones had to make layoffs. Toyota did. Leveraging is how small business operates.

The leveraging that I talked about by the big banks was on such a tremendous scale that small over leveraged businesses are a drop in the ocean.

well, it will be cut in half in a few years as we withdraw from iraq. many troops are being transferred to afghanistan but we have the infrastructure there so the cost/head is lower

perhaps. But it would require a major change in the idea of our military. We couldn't be the police of the world. We couldn't really fight a major war. There would be a huge power vaccum while we cut back, who would fill it ? Europe ? Doubt it. They already have very high taxes and I don't think they are going to start spending the $$$ to be even able to defend Europe and their direct issues. Much less defending some random tribe getting slaughtered by it's neighbors.

They are regulating internet companies to make sure they provide neutrality among the internet and can't censor what you see.

Do you want to wake up tomorrow find out you can't access espn.com because you don't have the internet sports package?

liberals think that two consenting adults can perform any kind of acts (as long as it doesn't effect the rest of society) except for capitalism.

fyi the biggest change was the fact that most jobs today aren't that easy to get into. Back then, you could hire anyone off the street. Give them a shovel, tell them to push this button, whatever.... And very easy to replace since the training was 5mins.

Skilled jobs are a bit different.
