Programming note....my little trivia questions will be gone tomorrow night as I plan to attend the Truck race at Bristol....I'll be back with you on Thursday nite....thought we would do a sponsor tonight.

What company/business are we???
We started sponsoring a competitive team in May of 1981 Bobby Allison drove a few races for us.
We won a few Daytona 500s
Our car was always intimidating in the rear view mirror of our competitors....when they saw us coming we were already passed them. We were really cooking on the superspeedways.
Our car will always be a part of history when Royalty met the Republic on a hot summer afternoon.
In 85 and 86 we were still successful but our driver was aging and wouldn't the force he used to be.
In 1988 and 1989 we experienced a changing of the guard as a son of a champion started driving for us.
In 1990 we invested in a Paramount of a contract and couldn't afford both it and our CUP program...so the CUP program was put on hold even though we still had a car on the track.
1992 saw us return to NASCAR and we found a driver who was a natural....92 and 93 saw us win win and win.
1994 saw us sponsor a new team to CUP but by the end of 1995 they were out of business....and our spreadsheet didn't look good either.
We sat out for several years trying to get our core business fixed with our fixin's....we returned with a blanket sponsorship in which our name was on 4 cars as an associate sponsor.
In the 2000's we have made one off sponsorship deals....never could afford it like we used to....but hey at least we won this year in NASCAR....and at our favorite track.....who are we????

They won this year with JGR, AND they have something in common with Caterpillar in 2009????
Edit #2----"Paramount contract" I have threw in many clues....think about it. Look for "key" words in each line or stanza.
Edit #3---the 4 cars were Jack Roush Racing in the late 90's--early 2000's and included a Busch deal with Jeff Burton driving a #9 Ford
