Do you know of any controversial foreign elections?

I have a 3-4 page paper due in less than 16 hours and haven't started it yet. I pick a country (other than U.S.) and write about their electoral system and their political ways. Now the thing is, it needs to be from 2007-2009. No earlier. In addition, the election had to have been heated, so to speak. Would you have any juicy ideas that could get me up and going?

All I need is a GOOD country to do this on, preferably with a quick 4 sentence summary on what the controversy was over the election. I will do the rest.

Ecuador has had a huge problem with their President, debatable whether he was elected legally. He tried to eliminate their Congress' power, closed down opposing radio stations, etc. Most of their banks fell apart through embezzlement, and there was no safety net for bank account holders. It would make a good topic. And there's always the topic of Somalia. I can't keep up with their regimes and voting problems.

Man that sounds so easy. How about Mexico? Their last election was very heated (I think it was in summer '06 though). Good thing the right guy won, by the way.

There was also just recently an election in El Salvador that sounds kinda crazy. You could go nuts with Venezuela of course (but I bet everyone picks that one, HaHa). Just go to Wikipedia and search any of the three I just recommened to you and you're bound to get a wealth of information.
