Do you know any good poetry themes for my public speaking program?

Yeah I am in public speaking, and I am having some trouble trying to find a theme for poetry. I tried family, and it just didn't work out so swell. i need something where i can find serious poems to use and funny ones.if you can give me some theme ideas i can find the poems myself please help!
 
What are you speaking about? I say poets.org is a good place to start.

There are SO many great poems out there

The History Of One Tough Motherfucker by Charles Bukowski (about survival)

Eagle Song by Jor Harjo (About life and spirit)

Apes by Adam Zagajewski (About freedom of choice and independence)

Wild Geese by Mary Oliver (About moving on)

Learning The Trees by Howard Nemerov (About learning and growing up)

Those are the few I can recall of the top of my head.
