Do you keep your chat off on facebook?

I feel awkward leaving my chat on and know my friends are on, but I don't really feel like I know what to talk about all the time. Don't lie...do you feel a bit offended when someone turns it off, but you know they are on because they added something on their wall while they were off? Do you think it's best to keep it off?
 
I have a list of friends who I actually talk to and everyone else is in a different list. I appear online to them but to everyone else I appear offline.
 
you know how you can make groups of people for your chat like family, friends, etc? I just drag ppl i dont like talking to into a certain category and turn chat off to them.
 
The whole 5 minutes I'm on Facebook each week, it really doesn't matter to me. I prefer using IM (Skype, MSN, AIM, etc) to the web based IM.
