Great answer KAZ!!! I hit the wrong key and rated your answer low by mistake. Sorry! I appreciate your answering this grandma's question!

I cannot answer that question directly, but you have to take a test to even get your foot in the door of any military service. Be it the Coast Guard, Navy, Army or Marines. All tests are hard and they are designed that way to sift out the chaffe.

The ASVAB exam is taken by all incoming recruits to see their qualifications regarding MOS (military occupational specialty). It tests you on basic knowledge and is a computerized test. We are also tested physically prior to boot camp to make sure that a poolee can pass the initial PFT. If you fail it, you will join the "Pork Chop Platoon" or PCP (Physical Conditioning Platoon) until you can pass the PFT and will be in boot camp longer. Good luck and Semper Fi.
