Do you have to pay your high-school age children to work for your family's business?

I realize that ethics, personal opinion, and many other factors such as pride in your work and feelings of responsibility towards a family will make people feel like you should help your family out, but does minimum wage law come into effect when your business hires your high-school aged child. It came to my attention after listening to my 17 year old brother debating it with my mother.
