I got a ticket and they said show up at court on the 18th my friends say its gonna be 160 dollars do you have to pay it up front the day of sentencing or a set time period after

No at least not in the state of PA. Once you appear at the hearing you can plead either guilty or not and then they will set either another court appearance or make payment arrangements for you.

No! You wait for your hearing. Once you've plead your case, the judge will decide on the fine. It's usually a set amount, plus court costs. When I had my ticket, the municipality billed me about 45-days after the hearing.

You are not required to pay immediately. If you want a pay plan, it can be arranged.
Challenge your ticket, its cheaper, and you will learn something about court. Be bold. You have a few days, so start searching the internet.
