3 weeks ago, my transmission went out of my 96 Mitsubishi i put it in a garage he had a transmission for 3 weeks he has said it will be about an hour and I will be done, five days ago he started saying it needed a fly wheel, so i bought a flywheel he said when he put it on it broke, now he wants me to by a brand new fly wheel at 130 dollars, he also bought a fly wheel and it broke, he did not fix my car, he says i owe him 250 dollars labor what did he do, nothing, my car will not run, can i demand he give me my car, what do i do, I believe he is a shady character!

I would just pay him and get your car back, then take him to small claims court, if you refuse to pay him ha can hold your car. He also doesn't sound like much of a mechanic, I have no idea how you would BREAK a flywheel they are pretty solid apart from the gear teeth around the outside, he may have dropped it and damaged the teeth on it. If this was the case the new one should be coming out of his pocket not yours.

There are a lot of so called mechanics out there that are no good.

Yes. you have to pay him, in the same way you have to pay a doctor who does not cure you.
If you do not pay him, he can take out a mechanic's lien. This means filing a claim in court. You as the car owner must pay off what you owe the mechanic before the title to the car can be transferred cleanly to a third party.
If you decide to pay the bill voluntarily, the mechanic's lien is lifted.
You may later take him to court (small claims court) and try to sue him.

i cant say what happened with the flywheel ive had a few jobs go bad .and i had to let the customer go without paying to keep the peace what you have to do is find out what will take to fix the car and not concentrate so much on the price will the repair be successful,i had to take a non paying customer to small claims court

i would pay him have the car towed to a reputable garage, when it is fixed take him to small claims court.
