Do you have to have a piano to learn piano?

I wanna learn piano but we don't have the money to afford one and I wanna buy a really nice one like Yamaha or kawai. So do you think its okay to wait a year or two when we have the money and I know if my hearts really in it. So I just mean getting lessons at school or out of school Also got any tips on how to learn piano notes ? Will I never be getting the full potential out of piano lessons if I don't have a piano ? Thank you
