Everyone has different duties. Some work nights, some days, some weekends, etc. You could have an assignment in which you work 24/7, finding sleep where you can. In a combat zone, for example, wars do not stop on weekends.
For much of my service I worked 8-5 monday through friday. Not everyone has that same assignment.
