Do you have sex education in America ?

needful thing

I am sure you do, but I am curious about the amount of questions on answers about periods and pregnancy. Some of these people sound like they are completely ignorant about their own bodies: what is normal and what isn't. Does sex education vary from state to state ?
It is good to ask questions dipstik I agree. I am only curious, and mean no disrespect.
I live in Australia - there is a lot of ignorance here as well. The state I live in has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the country - our government made a huge mistake it gave mothers to be a $5000 `baby bonus`- dumb as.
Yeah they would all laugh in sex education class. In one of our parks there are monkeys - sometimes the teacher would joke and say `go watch them` learn.
I think the biggest ignorance everywhere is that although they teach the physical aspects and std stuff, they still don't address the emotional and psychological issues that come with a sexual realationship. Menstruation issues are taught well here though. Abstinence only - well maybe an ideal, though not realistic.

thank you, there isn't,nearly enough eduction on the body, and it's changes and so on.it's still like old age taboo.can't tell them to much or they will get into trouble.then they get into trouble, maybe sometimes to much info,is to much but in this day and age there's not enough.were still alittle backwards here in the states.

Americans do have sex ed and there are no more ignorant about their bodies than any other people in the world. Some people are just curious, no big deal. Maybe Americans ask more questions than others do, that's a good thing.

u know canadian high schools do NOT pass around condoms ! i am thinking its only the states !
and ya sure we talk about sex and pregnencys but i dont think it should be the schools job. it should be YOUR parents ! i swear the school just has that course cuz they dont know what else to teach ! like come on is it really nesesary ?
they do tach no sex the the best thing but ya they dont really go deep into topics, i thin the US does a better job of that and ya im sorry to say but canada is a JOKE !!

Umm... Yes we do have Sex Ed

I don't know a ton about it, but it does very from state to state and school that have one often will even pay an outside organisation to come in and teach it. Thats how it was for us at least.

As far as specifics on what they taught us, like most kids I turned my head and ignored it, or giggled along with everyone else to try to ignore how uncomfortable the situatin was lol.

Altough in my circumstance we did have to get a parent to sign off so that we could be in it, but everyone took it, it was basically mandatory.

That was in around 5th grade though.

Then in the later battering of Sex Ed, (High School) We were graded (Obviously a more serious situation than when we were in 5th grade) The same general feeling of "This is stupid" floated through the air, but everyone knew what they should have. No one wants their GPA effected by something like that lol.
