Here is a link to the post I made on Hernia Bible: http://groin-hernia.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=720
Here is the actual post:
My first post/intro: http://www.groin-hernia.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=716
I have still not heard of anyone healing an indirect inguinal hernia (in the scrotum) without surgery. Again I hope the website makes it easily visible and clear that hernias in the scrotum are a different matter. Sure it may be possible but there is no documentation of anyone doing it and current support systems (trusses, pads etc.)are inapplicable. I am continuing to run the risk of incarceration and many of my activities are on hold. It looks like I'm going to look into surgery.
I'm meeting my surgeon for the second time on Thursday and I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions as to what I should discuss with him. Of course I will bring up the statistics of chronic pain after surgery especially mesh (4-30%?). I'm sure I know what he will say, the same thing my GP said "That's not true, don't believe everything you read." What else could he say? If he said, "oh yes, I believe that's true." I would say "What the heck, you never informed me of that!!" and I could potentially sue him or something. So it seems to me Doctors are forced into their initial opinion to cover their butts. I also thought of mentioning Dr. Desarda's technique.
Dr. Desarda's technique seems promising although I don't like the idea of an open surgery where they have to cut open muscle. That's why I liked the idea of a laparoscopic surgery. I've also heard light weight biologic mesh and fibrin glue are the best. But still from what I've heard mesh period is a bad way to go.
Anyways I appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.
Someone has kindly responded to that post already. More input would be appreciated.
