Do you have an ideal length of book?

I'm writing a book, and I've just hit page 200. Still shedloads of story left to tell, so I wondered whether people had an "ideal" length of book? Or does it depend on context - the beach holiday book vs the epic etc?

I'd say somewhere around 300 is good for me....unless you can keep the story really interesting.

I guess it depends on how into the book I am and whether the author is simply droning on. Most novels, however, for adult fiction can be anywhere from 300 to 800. So, right now, you actually have a good-sized novella.
You're still writing however. If you're going to publish, you'll probably edit it yourself and then have an editor look through it. Undoubtedly, they'll take out some stuff so that you might end up with 300 pages and such.
Also, if you're thinking of publishing, the font might be the same, but how small the font is and how big the page is are all key factors and thick a book is.

There is no ideal length of a book. When you finish your book with all intended material included, then you should be able to tell us the ideal length of your particular book.
