Do You Guys Agree With This?!

I still don't understand what you're saying. Do you mean independent music as in music having nothing to do with major labels? Because you're talking about Rolling Stone, and of course they will have basically nothing like that. The magazine is just out to make money. I could think of several magazines off the top of my head that I think are written more out of love for music than to make a profit that definitely focus on independent artists. And I'm not talking about Pitchfork music.

That list is bull****. I've only heard 5 of those albums, but any top 100 list that has The Strokes in the top 5 and doesn't have the word "worst" in the title is just trying to sell you something.

But then again, this is coming from a magazine that called Justin Tiraberlake "an edgy performer".

I'll give an example of what i'm saying..

Say you were going to do a list of the greatest 80s albums.
Even the most mainstream of magazines would include genuine independent labels from those times like Rough Trade, SST, 4AD, Beggers Banquest, Mute...and so on and so on.
Even the lists back then in mainstream magazines had albums put out by these labels on them.
How do I know this? Because that's how I found out about these labels and banRAB.
If you were to do a 90s list you could pretty much say the same thing.

But now it's not the case, the fact is the big 4 record companies dominate everything and little else has any chance of getting through, even with the internet at their disposal.

And that list is living proof of that.

There's a lot of albums on there I like but not many that would be on my list, but then again, it is Rolling Stone. An interesting list would be just one album per band.

Shame these List's always have to include rap albums when most are ****. Rolling Stones is a typical magazine who will put there typical artist's in the top 100.

I don't think that MGMT belongs on any decade lists, much less Rolling Stone's. It was terrible terrible album in my opinion (the few times I could listen it through all the way) and nothing innovative. Big thurabs down to RS for placing it within the top 20.

Stadium Arcadium? Really!?

This list looks like a bunch of washed up 70s/80s Rolling Stone favorites and typical hipster crap...

Those are the albums that I would consider for such a list... 24/100 ain't bad for rolling stone... they left out some pretty big ones, but at least they got #1 right.

i think you got played like a fiddle.

sidewinder nails it with his comment. Rolling Stone hasn't been worth the paper it's printed on in a very long time. every few months they plop out a contentious list of X albums and people pick it up and present it to the world to see under the guise of discontent at their choices.

you just did their marketing department's job.
