Do you get drug tested immediately after boot camp?

I'm going into the MArines, I don't do drugs but have experimented with marijuana in the past. I want to know if when I get out of boot on leave and maybe smoke with a friend, will I be tested immediately on my return. Please answers from those who have experience

You are rolling a huge pair of dice. Once boot camp is over, all drug tests are RANDOM. You can be tested once in 3 months, or 3 times in one week. In my experience, during any schools they tend to test way more than at any other command.

DO NOT DO IT. If you plan on staying in the military, then stay away from the crap...I would NOT want to be stuck with a freakin pothead if we had to go on mission and he was suppose to watch my back. That is so freakin childish. Grow up and have some Integrity and Loyalty for the military I say!!! They will pull random urinalysis tests on you all the time...and there is nothing you can take to be able to pass the test.

Being in the military subjects you to being drug tested at any time. There can be random drug tests administered by your unit. The times that they usually do drug testing is when someone in a unit gets busted for drugs, and also right after leave.

So your best bet is to plan on getting tested right after your leave, but in reality they more than likely won't test you since you are coming off leave from Basic. Later on, when you take leave before or after a deployment is when they usually test people after leave.

It will be random. Sometimes they will do it upon you immediately returning from leave, sometimes they won't. I've been tested by myself, I've had instances where my entire shop was tested. (they said it was coincidence, we called BS). Then I've been tested twice in the same week!

We had a guy get busted for drugs, and they sent him home packing as fast as they could. He was booted out of the shop, sent to work scrubbing decks, then at the earliest they could, kicked him out.

Fact of the matter is, if you even experiment with drugs, you're playing Russian roulette with your career. Tell me, how you going to explain to your next employer that you were kicked out of the Marines, for something as stupid as drugs? Think they're going to hire you? Hopefully they will be sympathetic to drug users, even if it was just experimentation.

You are best not to smoke at all during your enlistment. In MCMAP classes you will hear alot about drugs and the martial arts and it does not pay to do drugs. Say no to your friend and focus on your Marine Corps career.Semper Fi
