What has been seen from this high place
Where I now stand
A place where many brave natives must have stood
Throughout the centuries?
Found quite by accident
I seemed to be following a trail
A nicely packed avenue of nothing more
than the settled dust of the surrounding land.
No one is here
No one comes here.
I am alone, but
I cannot help but feel that many have traced my steps before.
Hunting for game
Searching for peace
Wandering to a new place
Where no man has tread before?
But I feel this timeless wind
I see the fruits of this Earth
Sprawling before my curious eyes
Treasures that only a few like me have time to see.
The morning mist forming over there
and then gone as if it never existed
Sounds of bees swarming near
From larger beasts and some smaller than me.
I am now lost
in the possibility of past thoughts
of the few who stood up high before
Here - waiting for a sign.
Anything that confirms that I am not alone.
From a timeless wind
The fresh fruit of our Earth
From priceless treasures.
