Do you feel there is a difference between being educated versus actually

bright and educated? I notice that before college, too many people "learn" just for the A's, while not enough actively seek out knowledge just because they want to gain greater awareness.

College was a major shift. With majors being declared and lots of other focuses, I notice quite a lot of fellow students who could energetically talk about what they're studying, how they went ahead and sought out information on their own (without the professor/teacher's instruction), and relate it to life experiences.

What can be done in US education so that there's more of a culture where people actively seek out knowledge and strive to become "bright" rather than just "educated"?

like you said, do it for A's. the educational system is set up to teach, test and forget. sometimes wtill stick forever. you cant create passion in learning, maybe you can force it but could back fire. I would say use more "fun" ways to teach, like music, videos, internet and group work. also get rid of BUSY work.

thats because the idiots and burn outs of high school dont go to college. people who strive to be bright ARE the ones who want to pursue higher education. u see?

I don't think there's a difference. If someone doesn't want to learn then they won't. Some people want to learn and some don't. I say good day.
