It's not that the electoral college is all that bad, it does give parody to smaller states, which was/is the intended reason.

Even though the electoral voter process has some good points, the flaw is in the individual states law or requirements about the system. Bases on my online research; only (estimated) half of the United States have a law in place that requires the electoral voter to vote the popular vote or at the very least, publish their vote, while the other half has no rule or law in place at all. What does that mean: At least half of the states electoral voter are not held responsible for who they ultimately cast their electoral vote for.

While the electoral vote is worthy, it can be massaged. With our ego driven, career minded wall flowers that pledge to serve and ultimately master, why should we, the American citizen trust the system that doesn't have to be 100 percent accountable? And I would say the system is necessary but flawed and in need of correction.

I think that the Electoral College is one feature of the democratic process in the US that just doesn't work. The people are voting for the president, but in the end it's the college that chooses the person. So basically a group of 538 people is capable of making a decision that would be contrary to what millions of people want.
